Handmade Burger Co.

Sorry for the radio silence, I haven't had many new restaurant experiences or many at all over the last few weeks, so rather than repeating myself I have been quiet. However, today myself and a friend had lunch at another great restaurant for us Vegans, Handmade Burger Co. They have so many burger options made to order with a lot of options for Gluten Intolerance as well, great place when you want something a little more real!

Firstly, I can only apologise about the lack of proper photos, my phone keeps telling me it has taken the photo only for me to try to use it later and it has an error or it's not even there! Super annoying, so stock pictures from their website will have to do!

People:

The staff in Handmade Burger Co are always super helpful, they were super nice today and brought me over a great burger! They have recently changed their serving, instead of ordering from the bar they now do table service which I find better when ordering with intolerances and special requirements.

They also are able to recommend more to you, for example today they offered me some vegan cheese which wasn't on the menu. This really added to the burger which is brilliant, they have also helped me realise my dream of a proper American milkshake!

Food:

The food is normally of great quality, the burgers without exception as they are always tasty, fresh and hot! The salad to go with it is fresh and a great accompaniment to the burger instead of a bun. I usually order the Thai Vegetable burger, it has sweet chilli sauce with it and roasted pepper on the top, I always add a flat mushroom or today the special treat of vegan cheese! That stuff is getting really popular in restaurants, it is brilliant and great to see that Veganism is becoming easier!

All of their vegan burgers are great (and there are a fair amount) with a great variety of flavours, spices and ingredients. Unfortunately like a lot of bread/buns the Gluten Free one isn't Vegan as well so I have to go bunless each time which isn't all bad, but sometimes you do miss just holding a burger!

Their fries are very tasty when fresh, however I have had a few times when the chips haven't been cooked properly and they have been hard inside instead of the fluffy on the inside texture they describe! This is a shame because this is the only thing that lets them down!

They used to do Veggie skewers as well, they were great when you aren't in the mood for a full burger but fancy the chips and service of Handmade Burger Co, I wish they would bring them back!

The one great thing about Handmade Burger Co is that they do American style Vegan Milkshakes! I had their Strawberry Milkshake which is made with Soy Milk and Vegan ice cream, it is delicious and very filling.

Allergies/Intolerances:

The options for eating at Handmade Burger Co. are great, there are so many Vegan burgers to choose from that you won't be bored if you go there a lot. Almost everything on the menu can be made gluten free as well which is brilliant, which is certified by the Coeliac foundation as well, with the Vegan foundation signing off their menu as well.

They have definitely thought of their wider audience, they have a gluten free menu with the Vegan options being highlighted on their normal menu. They also have the allergen information available inshore and on their website, however for me to be able to see both Vegan and Gluten Free on the same menu, it makes it a lot easier to decide!
