I have been craving proper American Style Pancakes for the last month, which led me to reminisce of the times I have had Vegan & Gluten Free pancakes. Most of the time it has been me making them from mixes, with too sickly results. But when I moved to Reading, at my boyfriends house perusing Deliveroo, I found an absolute gem - Hack the Stack, which leads me to my latest review.
Hack the Stack is a kitchen in Caversham, Reading which specialises in making American stacked pancakes. They currently have been away from Deliveroo for a while due to catering events but they have promised they will be coming back soon! They do a variety of Vegan options and the flour blend they use is Gluten Free so it safe for me to eat any of it.
People
Now I wouldn't usually make a review for the people when the place is just delivery or a take out counter. But I was unsure about what I could order as it wasn't clear that they only use a gluten free flour blend and there wasn't anywhere on Deliveroo to say Vegan & Gluten Free. So I emailed them to ask what to do, they were super helpful and said that they would make a note of my order and then for me to phone when I sent it through so she could keep an eye out for it. She then called me when preparing it to ask if I wanted an ice cream upgrade which she then listed the ingredients of over the phone.
It was the best services I could have asked for, which is why I thought I would break my rule on reviewing people.

Food
The Pancakes were absolutely insane, they were fluffy light and packed with flavour. All the Vegan, GF pancakes I had before were totally insignificant compared to this experience.
I opted for American Style Stack of 3 pancakes, with Strawberries, Vegan Chocolate Chips, Maple Syrup and Maple Pecan Ice Cream. As you can see in the picture, the pancakes arrived perfectly and the ice cream still in tact. Which for delivering hot with cold together, is a great feat.
The combination of light fluffy pancakes, with delicious Maple Pecan ice cream, fresh strawberries and my love for maple syrup was what made this. Next time, I am definitely going to opt for their cinnamon sugar option as cinnamon is like a food god to me.
But right now, I need to stop writing about the pancakes because I'm drooling and they aren't available until next week!

Allergies/Intolerances
I pretty much covered this in the People section, however covering the menu as well. There is only two vegan options on the menu, one is a Savoury and the other is a make your own stack. For me, I will always choose the make your own stack as this allows me to choose the flavour explosion that is American Pancakes.
On their website (which is sadly currently down) they had an allergy chart, which is how I found out about them all being gluten free. I don't think they like to advertise it as the gluten eating population get a bit funny when eating things that are "a fad" or they feel deprived of "real food". I'm not being rude, a few years ago I would have been the same but now I can't be so fussy! Their allergy chart listed all pancake options and sides so I could clearly see what options I could get.

To be honest, I can't sing this places praises high enough so I am going to stop! I just recommend anyone living in Reading, order from Hack the Stack when they come back on Deliveroo, maybe if we order enough we could get a restaurant out of them!!
